Gladys Ayala

Founder, Vice President / Chief Financial Officer of Chicas Mom, Inc.

She was born in Paraguay, where she earned a degree in mathematics with a focus on statistics and computer engineering. She held several government positions throughout her career and her success landed her a prominent job as a binational liaison between Paraguay and Japan. Despite being younger than her colleagues, she gained valuable experience leading them.

In the 90s, she met her husband who resided in the United States while she lived in Paraguay. Despite the physical distance between them, they managed to connect through the internet and sustained a long-distance relationship that blossomed over time. They eventually married in 2000 and she relocated to Los Angeles to embark on their new journey together. In the initial years of their marriage, Gladys dedicated her time to raising their two children.

As she became more involved in her children’s education, she noticed the significant differences between the education system in her home country and the one in the United States. Here, parents have more opportunities to participate in the school system, which they found very enjoyable.

She eventually joins a support group known as “CH.I.C.A.S” (Chicas in Control and Success), a support and education group for adolescent girls. As the group grew, the mothers of the girls decided to participate and learn alongside their daughters. This led to the first version of CHICAS MOM INC., which lasted for about 8 years.

In 2016, after a period of inactivity, Gladys and a group of dedicated women worked towards reviving the organization. This time, they made it an official non-profit organization. Thus, marking the beginning of a new era for the group, which is now recognized as CHICAS MOM INC.

Gladys, apart from being one of the founders, has held various roles in the organization, she has been secretary, president, and is currently vice president. She is also one of the people in charge of the book club program, which promotes reading and literature in our community.

She finds immense pleasure in educating mothers about technology through her business, GA Computer Consultant. Despite the pandemic, Chicas Mom Inc. initiated a technology education campaign. Thanks to a grant from the El Nido Foundation, after finishing the course, participants were given computers to continue their personal growth.

Gladys values Chicas Mom Inc. as a vital connection to the community and a particularly meaningful one for women. This organization aims to inform, prepare, and train women so that they can educate and strengthen not only their children but also their home environment and community.
