Committees
Governance (Bylaws and Compliance) Committee
The Governance Committee monitors governance and compliance issues for the nonprofit entity, such as:
Conducting annual review meetings of the organizational documents, such as the bylaws, board member agreements, conflict of interest policy and internal procedures, to ensure they are compliant with current nonprofit laws and effective for the current day management of the organization.
o The Governance Committee will edit and submit for board approval any required modifications to the organizational documents as may be required.
Verifying and ensuring that the organization has filed the appropriate paperwork with the regulatory authorities on a timely basis
In governing themselves, governance committees support and encourage opportunities for board development.
The Governance Committee has the power to act on behalf of the full board only when its membership is comprised of Directors only and the action does not conflict with these bylaws.
Grants and Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee is responsible for overseeing the organization’s overall fundraising efforts. The Fundraising Committees seeks out opportunities for gaining corporate sponsors, philanthropists, large donors, grants, and endowments.
Volunteer Committee
The Volunteer Committee mission and purpose is to ensure that the organization has sufficient human resources and that they are being efficiently utilized for the fulfilment of the organization’s mission.
Education & Cultural Affairs Committee
Using their strong decision-making, public relations, interpersonal, and communication skills, the education committee is responsible for collaborating with Board members and volunteers to plan short or long-term forums to ensure that the educational needs of members and the community are being met.
